What is crop art and how do we react to it?
Crop art or seed art is a visual art created by fixing vegetable matter, especially seeds, to a background. The Rose Parade is a sub-category that does this. Minnesotan Lillian Colton has long been the queen of seed art portraits. All you have to do is look at an aerial view of farmland to see that it's already a work of art, so crop art just calls attention to the fact. Inakadate, Japan each year produces beautiful fields of agrarian art. Crop Circles look very stylized. Are the circles an emerging art form: agrarian graffiti, large-scale land art that will be written about in future art history texts as the most remarkable artistic innovation to emerge from the 20th century? Or are they the result of UFO landings or mysterious messages from extraterrestrials? They are often an interesting application of geometry. Crop art can be the traditional artists that have used fields, fruits and vegetables in their paintings. Think of Julien Dupre, Le Regain - the Second Crop picture or the art of Giussepe Arcimboldo. Or is crop art what happens when we use Photoshop or scissors to crop a picture and change the focus? Crop art whatever its form remains a fascinating social phenomenon. crop art, crop circles, seed art, Sculpture Garden, Art in Landscape, agrarian art, agrarian graffiti, geometry, Inakadate, Japan, Stan Herd, Matthew Moore, Julien Dupre, Giussepe Arcimboldo, Lillian Colton Group Tags
